About i-subscribe

i-subscribe is a forwarding and list-management service. It passes the email you write on to the people on your list, and keeps track of who's on it. It doesn't read your email or open your attachments.

What it's for

  • One address instead of a long To line. Stop juggling groups of addresses in your email app. Send to one address and everyone gets it.
  • Less list-keeping for you. Sent mail shows who got each message, and bounced addresses take care of themselves. A teacher can teach instead of wondering whether every parent got it.
  • Each person safe and on their own. Everyone gets their own copy. Nobody sees who else is on the list, and nobody can reply-all to everyone.
  • So easy your grandma can use it. Just email: no app to install, nothing new to learn, for the person sending or the people reading.
  • Subscribing is up to the recipient. Share a link or QR code and people sign themselves up. Getting your mail, or leaving, is in their hands, not yours.
  • Nobody added without saying yes. Everyone chooses to join, and anyone can leave from any email, without signing in.
  • Help when you can’t be there. A delegate can send and manage your list for you, for example while you’re away on a mission trip.
  • Only the real you can send. Mail to your list is checked so nobody can pretend to be you and send to your people.
  • A list for each group. A class, a team, the family: up to 10 lists from the same email, each with up to 200 people.
  • Mail that lands in the inbox. Bounces and spam reports are handled for you, so the mail everyone sends keeps a good name with email providers.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes, i-subscribe is free during early access. The people on your list never pay anything.

How is this different from a group email or a newsletter service?

A group email puts everyone's address on the To line: people see each other's addresses, reply-all floods everyone, and you keep the list up to date by hand. A newsletter service has you design messages in its editor and is built for marketing. With i-subscribe you write a normal email in the app you already use and send it to one address. Everyone on your list gets their own private copy, replies come back only to you, and people join and leave on their own.

Does anyone read my email?

No. i-subscribe is a forwarding service: software checks that a message really came from you, then passes it on to your list. Nobody reads your email or opens your attachments.

Do the people on my list need an account?

No. They accept the invitation by email and get your messages like any other email. They can sign in with their email if they want to see all their lists in one place.

Can people reply?

Yes. Replies go to whoever sent the message, not to the whole list.

Can people on the list see each other?

No. Everyone gets their own copy with only their own address on it.

Why didn't my email go out?

It has to come from the email you signed up with (or a delegate's), and messages over 25 MB aren't sent (we email you if that happens). Check Sent mail on your list to see what went out and to whom.

Can I send from a different email address?

Not yet: mail must come from the email you signed up with. Someone else can send for you if you add them as a delegate.

Can I have more than one list?

Yes, up to 10, all sent from the same email. Use "+ New list" on Home.

How many people can be on a list?

Up to 200, counting people who have joined, open invitations and requests waiting for your approval.

What is a delegate?

Someone you trust to help run one of your lists. They send to it from their own email and can invite or remove people, but they can't add other delegates or delete the list.

Can I send photos and attachments?

Yes. Whatever your email app sends is passed on as it is, up to 25 MB per message.

How do I stop getting a list?

Tap Unsubscribe at the bottom of any of its emails, or sign in and leave it under Subscriptions.

What happens when I delete a list?

Its people, delegates and sent mail are deleted right away, and its name becomes free for someone else. The people on it aren't told, so send them a last message first if you'd like.

Who runs it
